WORKSHOP 8: Framing The Story: Finding Intimate Stories in Urban Settings in the spirit of Halloween!     DATE: Sunday, October 28, 2018, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm  INSTRUCTOR: Woody Woodman LOCATION: Disney Springs - Lake Buena Vista.  Meeting point TBD IN THE SPIRIT OF HALLOWEEN, WORKSHOP! DESCRIPTION: From the animation industry, working on films like Mulan, Tarzan, Treasure Planeta and more, former Disney storyboard artist Woody Woodman will build this session on the April's gesture and volume workshop; by finding intimate stories in urban settings, by exploring techniques of composition to selectively position or draw elements both foreground and background, to better present the story. We will also look at our surrounding staging to add dynamic point of view, or depth in the image. These are techniques used every day in the film or animation industry but can be applied in urban sketching. LEARNING GOALS: Locating small settings with people displaying emotion in a larger environment. Framing techniques with foreground, background or figures and props. Tip on composition to add movement, rhythm in each sketch.     SUPPLIES: No special materials are required beyond what most attendees carry with them: Small notepad or watercolor sketchbook (whatever you’re comfortable with) Sketching pencils and waterproof ink pens (whatever you’re comfortable) Travel watercolor set, markers or whatever you’re comfortable with to add color or tone  Brushes for watercolor or charcoal and pastel Small rag or paper towel Small leakproof plastic container of water (if you’re planning to watercolor or ink wash) Small lightweight folding stool (optional) ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Woody Woodman (Orlando, FL) Woody Woodman is an artist educator and storyteller with 20 years in the animation industry, working for clients such as; Disney, Lucas Films, FOX, Ardman, and Laika.
